Just to let you know we had a great drive down to Provence via the Alps. The car drives really well and coped with a heavy load and was re-registered without problem - all the paperwork was fine but instead of the Prefecture we went to a nearby shop called Azur Plaque in Draguignan who were incredibly helpful and had a very 'light' touch. They did all the paperwork and charged only €10 and fitted the new plates. Highly recommended if you have another customer in the area. Mind you it was not cheap - €364.50 in tax but at least there is no road tax each year! We have even used the new tow bar.
